BRITISH NAVY AND CONTRIBUTTONS.
Received June 9, 4.49 p.m. London, June 9. Reuter's correspondent at [Capetown states that i6 is understood that the Admiralty has agreed to naval contributions by the* Cape and Natal being spent locally, a portion of the contributions to bejjdevoted to the upkeep of ships provided by the Admiralty, aud the rest spent on improvement of the defence and the establsihment of a nucleus of a Colonial navy compoEed of submarine or destroyers. Local legislation ia to settle the arrangements and provide for the service of volunters anywhere abroad.
Dr Smart, tbe Cnpe Commissioner of Works, announces that the Cape and Natal, henceforth will act jointly as if the volunteers of the two Colonies were a federal force.
