Received May 17, 10.12 p.m. London, May 17. At the wool sales the following were the average prices realised for the fleece portions of the clips named —Richmond, 9%d ; Kawarau, lOJ^d ; Poporangi ll^d. The qunatity of wool sold to Home buyers was 91,000 bales; to Continental buyers, 51,000 bales; to go to the United States, 4ooo; held over, 15,000 bales. Merinos wei; with a strong demand throughout, and all medium and best^classes cleared at 5 per cent above "the March rates. Short and faulties barely maintained the March rates. CroEsbreds fully recovered their opening decline and { all classes are now fully equal to the March rates. Good merino lambs' advanced from par to 5 per cent; faulty declined 5 per cent; and crossbreds declined a half penny.
