Sydney,- May 1. A sensational development in the coaling trouble has occurred. The Norddeutscher Lloyd steamer Prinz Sigismund, with non-unionists, was to have commenced coaling this afternoon. Several hundred strikers and others collected in the vicinity of the Company's wharf,. : : Circular Quay, when~ non-unionists marched down without police escort. The crowd set upon and brutally assaulted them, about 20 being more or less injured. A strong force of police arriving restored order, but not before severa l of them were roughly handled. Six arrests were made. There was much excitement, and thousands congregated at the wharf watching the later stages of the disturbance.
