NELSON SAILING AND POWER BOAT CLUB.

Sailing and motor boat races under the auspices of the Nelson Sailing and Power Boat Club took place at the Port yesterday afternoon. Although the weather was perfect, there was only a small attendance of the public on the wharves, but the harbor presented quite a gay scene, with motor boats flitting here and there, and white sailed craft drifting idly about,, for the light breefce which prevailed, early in the day died away towards the afternoon, and interfered considerably with the one sailing race which was started. Mr S. Kirkpatrick's fine motor launch "The Queen of Beauty," with a large number of guests on board, and gaily decked from stem to stem, made trip 9 round the harbor, afterwards anchoring in mid-stream, where affcernon tea was partaken of. Much interest was taken in the motor boat races, and for these the weather conditions were perfect, the sea being smooth, and there being an entire absence of wind. The Citizens' Band played a number of selections. The sailing championship was notfinished ; Mr P Moore's Wanderer was the only craft to complete the course, but exceeded the time limit by ten minutes.
