Perth, Feb 2G During the hearing of a Chinese gambling case a witness said he was afraid to give evidence because other Chinamen would kill him He stated that a society had been formed at Perth by" one hundred Chinese, who picked ten of their number to kill any Chinaman giving evidence in gambling cases. The ten men received fifteen shillings a week each, and in the event of any of thwm meeting with death ml carrying out the society's behests, three hundred pounds sterling was sent to their widows and children. If they received any injury they would be paid thirty shillings weekly and their medical expenses.
