SETTLER SERIOUSLY INJURED
New Plymouth, December 17. The second express from Wellington to New Plymouth ran into a trap near Normanby, driven by an elderly man named William Thompson. The farmers' horse was disembowelled and his trap was smashed, but Thompson was thrown clear of the line on to his head. The engine driver pulled up promptly and the injured man was taken to Normanby. Little hope is. entertained oi his recovery. The train was further delayed by a mishap near Inglewood and did not reach town till eleven thirty.
