THE RAILWAY TIMETABLE
To the Editor. Sir,— ld the report of the last meeting of the Richmond Borough Council, appearing in your Friday's issue, it is stated: "The question of the railway time-table was discussed. Much dissatisfacton is expressed with the timetable, especially with the train which leaves Richmond ac 2 p.m., etc." Now, I, for one, tbinK that the position is very unfairly put in the foregoing. The new time-table is, I believe, generally considered much preferable to the old one, with the one exception referred to, and we have assarane that this defect will be remedied. ' ' On« swallow does not make a summer, " nor does one train make a "timetable," and I think that the more just and reasonable way of stating the matter would have been to re-

I tbinfc. we hare reason to congratulate* ourselves in having an officer of Mr Edwards' stamp in charge: he has shown enterprise and audac ty to study the convenience of the public/and I am sorry that the Richmond Council should have struck the note "dissatisfaction," when that of "appreciation" would have better harmonised with public feeling on the matter under consideration. Thanking you in anticipation for space for this defence, j I am, etc., j UP COUNTRY.
