NOTES.
(By "Short Slip.") Two senio* ".games wefa commenced tjfi Saturday : Athletic'niet United on Ho! t . wicke^ and at present things appear to be fairly even, . United batted first, Kinzett and Stiles were the only batsmen to reach double, figures, each having a fair share of luck. Athletic have now a lead, of seven with two wickets still to fall. ,o'n, No;. 2 wicket Kamura commenced with Nelson. The latter batted first, and put'o'n the respectable score of 172. The last wicket put on 81. Louisson with 86 not out was easily top score. It is amusing to watch this batsman knocking up catches in all directions and getting let off time after time. He usually gives every man in the field a chance before he'gets out. Kamura on going to the wicket also provided rather a surprise, putting on 150, chiefly by the aid of some juniors, who filled vacant places in the team.' Of the bowlers, Fairey (who took four •Wickets with four successive balls) iot, Kaiiiura and Richmond for Nelson; were the best. , The Nelson reps* to play Taranaki nd Marlborough are to be chosen on Wednesday. The selector has a fairly hard task before him. A good team might be chosen from the following— New th, Fowler, Broad, Jetinirigs, Sandel,K; Knappi Orford, tiouissori; Hairj Fairey, Stiles, Johnston, Kinzett, Askew, Duncan. Those who took part in Bhe first rep. game last season were: — Chiaholm, Q. Knapp, L. Livick, Price, Stiles, Johnston, Kinzett, Sanctel, Neale, Orford, Fairey. The outfield at the Park has now become very brown and hard, and forms a striking contract to the green of the pitch, which is being kept in very good order. By the way, the grass in the Park should be cut before any rep. matches are played. It is not quite so bad as it was,. but it still is a great handicap to players. (Per United Press Association. )
