GUESSING COMPETITIONS.
Yesterday morning the five sheep, three pigs, and tho fat beast, forming the'subjects of the guessing competitions at the Show were slaughtered at the Abattoir, and Messrs George E. Chisnall, A. W. Barnes. Godfrey Best, and J. Ef Bartlett certified as to the correctness of the weights, which are given below. The successful competitors were— Fat beast, weighed 6431b5 : Percy Best. Maitai Valley ; L, G. Sutton, Kichmond: and L. Wakefield .(?), Wakefield, each guessed the correct weight (5431 bs, and will divide the prizes. The guesses ranged from 200 lbs to 837^11)9. Five sheep, weight 305}£Ibs: E. Sutton, Hope, 3051b5, let; K." Fairy 306?41b; and Mrs Joseph Wadsworth', John Best, and H. Spittal, East Takaka, each guessed 3071b5. The guesses ranged from 151 bs to GOOlbs. Three pigs, weight 2911b5: Joseph Gibbs, Wakefield, 2911b5: A. Sutton. Hope, 2921bs:Y. Drogemuller, 288^ lbs. The guesses ranged from 1591bs to 7n6i£ lbs. Total aggregates, 1239^1b5: F. L. Fairhall, Wakefield, 1239 1b5; Bert Gibbs, Stoke, 1240^ lbs: F. Neal r23811»5. Weight of wool on five sheep, 94J-£ lbs: W. Heslop, Hope; and N. Win. Thorpe, each 93^1b; 11. Spittal, East Takaka, 93 lbs. The tickets were carefully gone over by Messrs J. E. Bartlett. G. E. Chisnall. G. Talbot and J. Glen, the secretary.
