ST. MARY'S SCHOOLS.
DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES. On December 13th there was s large attendance at St. Mafy's Hall, when the distribution of prizes tc the pupils of the Sacred Heart High School and St. Mary's Select Schoo] took place. An excellent programme of vocal arid instrumental music, and a Sbakesperian recitation was presented by the pupils. The plaoc duets were well played, and tht Fairies and Floral drills were very pretty, and well executed. The recital of the scene from King John elicited much applause. The overture was played by Misses Mercer, Crisp, Frank," and Moule; the Junior pupils gave the drill entitled "Fairies" ; Misses Stephens, Tyson, and O'Donnell sang "Daddy's on the Engine"; Misses Stephens, Casey, Saundeffl* and Beekley played "Come il faut" on the pianos; the Senior pupils sang "Whispering Hope"; "Orazione" was played on the pianos by Misses Frank, Crisp, Saunders, and D. Frank; the Senior pupils gave the "Floral Drill, " an item graceful and beautiful in its many evolutions i the Junior pupils sang about "Pussy's" Tea Party"; "Merry Sleigh bells," a charming musical item, was given by Misses Roughton, Stephens, Keeney, and F. Saunders; a Shakesperian recitation was capitally given by Misses Saunders and Stephens; "Gathering Flowers" was well sung by the Senior pupils: Misses Storey, Mercer, Crisp, and Moule played "Route en Train"; Miss Storey accompanied the singing with admirable skill and taste. The Rev. Father Clancy, who presided presented the prizes. He thanked the pupils for their admirable entertainment, which reflected considerable credit on themselves and their able teachers. He regretted the absence of their old friend the Hon. I* 1 . Trask, but was pleased to note he was recovering from his i llneSs. He expressed a hope that the pupils and teachers would thoroughly enjoy the holidays. He then distributed the prizes as follows :—
