CHRIST CHURCH LADIES' s GUILD BAZAAR, a y The bazaar and sale of work now being held in connection "with the 1 Christ Church Ladies' Guild bazaar, £ was opened at • the Palace Skating 1 Rink on December sth. A varied l" and attractive display is made at tbe a different stalls, and at the Ladies' * Guild stall a speciality is made of * jewellery, post cards, fancy goods, ■* etc., received from Canada, which s were procured purposely for the c bazaar by Mr A. H. Patterson, who, 9 before his departure for the Domin--3 ion, was a churchwarden at tbe ' Cathedral, 'the other stalls are also c laden with a variety of articles, and B in the afternoon satisfactory busi--9 ness was done. The ilower and cake 3 competitions attracted large entries, "[ and the exhibits of cut blooms was * very fine, especially the displays of y sweet peas and carnations. The ' premises adjoining the Rink have 5 toen converted into tea rooms, and " have been most tastefully decorated with, ferns, flags etc., by Miss Nina fc Jones and Mr Katterns. There are ' several side shows, including an art ■ gallery, where there are a large ■ number of amusing and cleverly exe--5 cuted " works of art. " Mrs Topl.iss ■ has charge of a "silhouette" studio, I and for a modest, sum persons may k obtain a well mounted portrait. ' The stall-holders are as follows:— ■ Guild stall : Me3dani9s itenlpthorne, ' Leggatt arid Sclanders. Swedt stall : ' Mesdames Maginnity and fiamford; assistants, Misses Bamford and F. Maginnity. Produce stall: Mrs F. Richmond: assistants, Miss Boyd * and Miss F. Richmond. Girls' 1 Fancy stall: Misses Houlker and 1 Leggatt. Cake Fancy stall : Mrs B. 1 Lewis: assistants, Misses Blackett and Hodson; Book stall: Misses Heaps* Ledger* and Maginnity. Jumble stail* Mrs Brlce and Miss 1 Webb. Flower stall s Misses Richmond and Maginnity. Refreshment stall: Mesdames Nicholson, Cock, and Hair; 13 assistants. Bran Pie: Misses Grimmett and Hitching. Art Gallery : Miss Kemptborrie, assisted by Misses H. Keraptborne,Brusewitz, Maginnity and S- Fell. Silhouette Gallery : Mrs Topliss. The judges in the various competitions were:— Mr S. F. Bolton. cut flowers; Mrs Barr, Mrs Allan, and Mrs Styche, table decorations and trimmed hats. The prize list ia appended!— Twelve roses, Mrs A. R. Hitching 1; six roses, Mrs Izard 1 ; collection sweet peas, Mrs P. Bond 1, Mrs W. Harley 2; collection carnations, Mrs Izard 1; prettiest hat decorated with natural flowers, Miss Huddleston 1 ; table decoration, Miss M. Cock 1; sponge roll, Miss R. Allen ; assortment of cakeg, Miss F. Maginnity; fruitcake, Mrs Maginnity ; decorated cake, Miss L. Elarvey. Last evening the Palace Rink was crowded, and splendid business was done at the stalk Action songs were given by a number of children, under the direction of the Misses Wright, and these were much appreciated and warmly applauded. Master Ken Liyick, a very small boy, gave a recitation in an admirable manner, and was heartily encored. The "Toy Symphony" was rendered by the orchestra, under the conductorship of Herr Lemni''-, and surae sweet music was extract... i from the quaint musical instruments, landsman Hansen also contributed a horn solo, which concluded the musical programme. The "Art Gallery" was thronged all the evening, and the tea kiosk attracted large crowds. Before the bazaar opened, the Garrison Band played a number of selections outside the Rink.
