VISIT OF THE HON. SIR JOSEPH WARD.
On December 3rd the Government steamer Tutanekai, with the Hon. Sir Joseph Ward, Lady Ward, Miss Eileen Ward, and private secretaries, arrived from Lyttelton, and was berthed at the Railway wharf at half-past nine. The steamer left Lyttelton at midnight, on Saturday eight, and dirty weather wag experienced on the trip. At <s".veu-o'cloek on Sunday night the steamer put into Wbareatea Bay, and remained there until five o'clock yesterday morning, when she left for Nelson. The Premier and party wert> met by the Mayor (Mr Piper). lion. F. Trask. M.L. C, Messrs John Graham nnd H. McKenzie, M.s'H.R., and other leading citizens. Sir Joseph, who was heartily welcomed, spent the forenoon at the residence of the Hon. F. Trask, and at noon opened the'new Post Office.
