WHEEL RACE.
Received December 16, 5.46 p.m. Melbourne, December 16. The Austral Wheel Eace resulted as follows: Thomas 1, Hehir 2, Morgan 3. It was the best Austral race ever seen. After six laps the back markers drew up with the midddle division and Thomas rode strongly. When the bell went Smith and Hendy led all along the back \ stretch and then Thomas closed on them, while Morgan, who had previously caught them, led into the straight, with Hehir close up Half way^home Thomas gave a great jump and" dashed /away, winning by a length. Time — 3min. 59secs. , which is ajrecord for'the race.
