To Correspondents.— Some letters are unavoidably held over. Charge of stealing money. — The young man, George Sfcuart, was on Saturday morning brought before Mr W. T. Bond, J.P., charged with having stolen £15 from the residence of William Ebery , at Kiwi. Sergeant Dougan asked ior a remand until three o'clock on Monday afternoon, by which hcur he hoped to have the witnesses from Kiwi in attendance. Mr A.T. Maginriity, who appeared for accused, consented, and the case wa9 accordingly adjourned. Juvenile Templars. — At half past eight to-night the Exhibition prizes will be presented at the Forester's Hall. The Post Office Clock.— We have been requested to state that Messrs Littlejohn were not the contractors for the erection of the Post Office clock, their services being requisitioned as experts subsequent to the erection of the clock by the contractor. This fact is, of course, wellknown locally. "Tanner's Ark.— Mr Felix Tanner and his "Ark" returned to port sometime on Saturday night or early yesterday morning. Mr Tanner, accompanied by a young man named Vipont, left for Sumneron Thursday evening, and got as far as Cook Strait, where, it is stated, heavy weather was experienced. Mr Tanner we beliuve has returned to Nelson for additions to his crew. Civil Service Examinations. — No fewer than 83 candidates presented themselves for the junior civil service examinations at Nelson, and the Drill Shed was used for the examinations, no other building large | enough being available. The Festive Season.— Shopkeepers are now preparing their windows for the Christmas season, and many novel displays are being made, among .the most noticeable being that of Messrs Lightband and Co., Trafalgar street. Wadding and holly predominate in the decorations and effectively set off the display of boots and shoes. Nelson A. and P. Association. — Prize money won at the A. and P. Association's annual Show held at Richmond Park at the end of November, was paid out on Saturday by the Secretary, Mr John Glen. Following are the nameß and amounts of winners oi*£s and over:— F. C. Pettit, £5 13s; Eandal Usher, £5 13s, Altogether £378 17s 9d was distributed among one hundred and sixty prize winners. The sum tof £821 8s 4d was paid out in prize money and accounts. Supreme Court.— The usual -circuit sittings of the Supreme Court will commence to-mcrrow, before His Honor the Chief Justice, Sir Robert Stout. The criminal calendar is light, up to the present oply one case, a charge of stealing bting set down for trial. There are several civil cases set down for hearing. Messrs W. Kout and Sons repoit having sold the property in Russnll street belonging to Mr Joseph Aveiy to Mrs Eleanor Dean of Karamea.
