WOOL SALES.

Received October 5, 11.9 p.m. London, October 4. At the wool sales, forty thousand bales have been sold to Home buyers andthirty-eight thousand bales went to the Continent, three thousand bales to the United States of Anier* ica, and nine thousand bales were held over. There was a strong market for all descriptions, at from par to five per cent above the opening rates. There was strong competition throughout, especially for merinos, fine, and crossbreds. Towards the close of the sales there was an improved demand for clips of coarse crossbreds. The Americans competed keenly for comebacks and merinos. Longburn, ll^d; Glenwye, ll^d.
