CHARGE OF SELLING INDECENT PICTURES.

Anckland, September 19. ' Leonard Lawrence and George B. Ohignell two Karangahape Road picture dealers were prosecuted before Mr C. C. Kettle, S.M., at the Police Court to-day on a charge of selling pictures of an indecent nature, viz., "Psyche's" bath, and Psyche at nature's mirror." The defendants pleaded not guilty. They admitted the sales, but set up a defence that they were not indecent pictures. Considerable discussion arose as to whether these were pictures which should be sold indiscriminately, and the witnesses for the defence y when asked for their opinion, all said that they did not see where harm could result. Mr Kettle said he would like to; hear further evidence of a representative character in order to help him in his opinion, and he adjourned the case for a fortnight, in order that this might -ba called.
