Visit of Colonel Pitt. — Colonel Pitt, Attorney-General and Acting - Postmaster - General, arrived from Marlborough on Saturday morning In the afternoon he visited Cable Bay, and this afternon will proceed to Collingwood to open the new Post Office there, returning to Nelson early on Wednesday morning.

Omission, — In oar notice of the miscellaneous concert giten at the Driiids' Hall on Friday evening there was an accident,..! omission. It should have been stated i'^t Mr T. L. Shone acted as accompanist with considerable ability.

Nelson Gun Club. — A series of matches took place on Saturday in connection with the above named club, when there was a fair attendance of shootists and visitors. Some very good shooting was recorded, several of the events being very keenly contestod. Doctors Barr and Orford and Mr Squires shot exceptionally welL It is the intention to hold regular competitions* and judging from the interest taken in those held on Saturday, the meetings should prove very enjoyable. Trophies presented by Mr C; Knight, of Appleby, and Messrs Brown and Kerf, as well as several others, will be fired for at an early date. Tno Gun Club bids fair to become a very popular one.

Nelson School of Music, — The annual meeting of subscribers will be held at the School of Music (Colling wood street entrance) this evening.

Nelson Land Board. —ln our report of the meeting of the Land Board, published on Saturday.it was inadvertently stated that M.Lammas' application for cash lands, sections 16 20, block vi, Wai-iti, was granted, wheras it was refused. The Board also declined C. Findt's application for reduction of assessed price of JG2 per acre, section 100, block vii, Kawatiri, not £8, as stated.

Education Board Election. — The election for three members for the East, Middle and West Wards of the Nelson Education District takes place to-day. All voting papers must, he delivered to the Returning Officer (Mr S. Ellis) before five p.m., or bear to-day's post mark. The result of the election will be made known on August 7th

Acknowledgment. — Mrs Deal, Matron of the Old People's Home, wishes to return thanks to Messrs Dee and Sons for parcel of hats, also to Mrs Ledger for a parcel. Both gifts were much appreciated by the inmates.
