NGATIMOTI.

A very pretty wedding Avas celebrated in St. James' Church on Tuesday last, when John, the second son of the late Mr Thog. Hewetaon,of Upper Moutere, was married to Florence, the eldest daughter of Mr John Canton, of this district. The Rev. Baker, of Brightwater, officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a dress of cream silk, and orange blossom, and the usual bridal veil. The bridesmaids were Miss E. Canton, sister of the bride, dressed in white silk, and the bridergoom's sister, Miss Annie Hewetson, dressed in white muslin. Mr Frank Hewetson, brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and Mr Walter Canton, brother of the bride, was groomsman. The bridegroom's 1 present to the bride was an opal brooch, and the bride's to the bridegroom a gold-mounted guard. The bridegroom also presented a gold necklace to each bridesmaid. The happy couple were the recipients of between sixty and seventy valuable presents.

The concert, which was held in the School on Wednesday for the benefit ot the local Cricket Club, was a great success. The following persons took part in it : — Mrs George Heath, Miss Olliver, Miss Demment, Miss Lizzie Thomason, Miss Hilda Heath, Miss Maud White, Messrs George Beatson. G. Francois. Perkinson, Sutcliffe. H. Heath, and Gny Holder. Mrs George Heath and Mr G. Francois were a great help, and the district, T think, should be pleased in possessing so talented a musician as Mrs G. Heath. Mr Guy, the President of j the Club, at the conclusion of the concert, thanked the audience for the help which they had given to the Criokot Club, and also those who had helped in the concert. After the concert, the floor was cleared for dancing, and which I understand, was kept up to about one o'clock, and much enjoyed by all present. July i3th, 190 G.

Nelson Sunshine for June. — During the month of June, 1906, the period of sunshine recorded at the Boulder Bank was 207 hours 10 minutes, an average of nearly 7 hours a day. The beat records were on the 15th (9 hours,, 9th (8 hours 55 minutes), and Ist, 4tb, and sth, on each of which dates the sun shone for 8 hours 50 minutes. For a winter month the record for June last is a splendid one, and amply justifies the city's claim to "Sunny Nelson." On two days only was no sunshine recorded. In June 1905 the period of sunshine wag 156 hours 10 minutes, and in 1901 184 hours 10 minutes. There were seven sunless days in Juue last year.
