A BREWER FINED.
Richard Wittingham, brewer, was fined £5 for failing to fix upon the plug or stopper of a caßk of beer the duty stamp, so that it could be destroyed oo the withdrawal of the beer plug. The stamp was placed on the top of the cask. The prosecution did not allege fraud but the Magistrate said the practice opened the door to fraud as the stamp might be nsed twice or oftener.
