At an inquest yesterday on- a boy named Willie Johnson, son of Percy Johnson, a jockey and trainer, who was killed by being dragged in a riding accident, a verdict of accidental death was rettirnedi The police last night received word from Olrig station that a man was lying dead there. He had been found in a paddock with a gun beside him. He had apparently been dead a month. The body has not yet be^n identified. Christchurch, July 12. A good many young lambs are to be seen in North Canterbury. Farmers have arranged this, anticipating an early spring demand-. A strong Young Men's No LioenHe Ulub has been formed in the city. Bright sunshine, with a fairly high temperature, haa succeeded the recent wintry weather Farmers work is well forward; and a fair acreage is under wheat. Napier July 12. A moderately attended meeting last evening decided to raise funds With the object of perpetuating toe memory of tbe late Premier. A resolution was also cairied that tbe district co-operate in the proposed national memorial. Auckland, July 12. The President of the New Zealand Bowling Association is making arrangements for a tour of New Zealand bowlers in Australia, leaving at the beginning of October. It is intended to take a representative rink from Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin, while the West Coast and laranaki will also send four players. The match against the Australian representative team v ill be played at Melbourne during Cup week, and the tour is expected to last five weeks.
