PRISONERS AND THEIR LATE GAOLER.

Wellington, July 12. A somewhat unique compliment was paid to the memory of the late Mr P. Garvey, Chief Gaoler, "of Wellington, by the male and female prisoners, who were under Mr Garvey's charge, The inmates of the ' two sections of the Terrace Gaol not only sent wreaths for the funeral, but also sent letters of condolence to the deceased's Gaoler's family. Out of hundreds of letters received by the family they have the greatest appreciation for" the tributes of respect received from the prisoners.
