MR. CHAMBERLAIN'S BIRTHDAY.

Monday's Birmingham demonstration chiefly recognised Mr Unaiuberlam's strenuous Parliamentary activity and devotion to national find Imperial ideals. \He was the recipient of a great unmber of congratulatory messages including one froril the Queen, also telegrams from the Colonies, .and hundreds from Ijpndon. .The Stock Exchanges.sent Kn .address.- .. • . , ■ =■ . fa Bingley- ljah in thoevening, and in tho presence of an enthußinsiic crowd of ten thousand people, Mr Chamberlain received over a hundred addresses of congratulation, and delivered a vigorous speech, reviewing his political life, vindicating his attitude towards the great problems in recent politics, insisting on the strengthening of the bonds t>L un^on .attaching the Empire as the highest object of statemanship. He said ho was confident that the reforms he advocated would be achieved, and that personally be was satisfied with the way things wore moving.
