UNDER WEIGHT VEAL.
Auckland, July. 9. . I At the Police Court to-day Harry Wilson and Joseph Pascoa were charged with dressing, and procuring the dressing for sale, a calf less than GOlbs in weight. It only weighed 42 lbs when found by the Police in William Morrow's butcher's shop. It was admitted the calf was one day old. The Magistrate diamißsed the charges owing to the absence of the interpretation of the words "dressed weight." William Morrow was fined .£l, with coats, for exposing another calf for sale, which was over 601bs in weight, but had not been killed in accordance with the provisions of the Act; and William Clark was fined ten shillings, with costs, for selling the calf to Morrow, and killing it at an unregistered slaughter house. The Stock Inspector stated many under weight calves wore being sold to the restaurants and to the Chinese.
