MEMORIAL SERVICE IN LONDON.

Received June 20th, 9.G p.m. London, June 20. Sir J. G. Ward's message to the New Zealand public is as follows: —"I deeply regret being unable to pay my last personal tribute to my respected friend and colleague, yet am grateful I had the opportunity of taking part in the beautiful, touching memorial service held at St. Paul's to-day, when the large and varied character of the gathering was the greatest possible tribute to Mr Sdddon's memory. The grief manifested shows how deeply his services beyond New Zealand's shores, as well as within the Colony, are recognised in the heart of the Empire. Such sympathy will help to soften the terrible blow the widow and family have sustained.
