AUCKLAND.

All business was suspended in Auokland this afternoon. Memorial services were held in St. Matthew's Church, which was crowded in every part: in the Jewish Synagogue, which was also crowded ; and special services were held by the Ministers' Association, the Freemasons and the Friendly Societies, all of which wore crowded. There was a large influx of people from the country districts. At the Friendly Societies service, held in the Choral Hall, a sudden death occurred. Bro. John Taylor, a P.G.M, of the Oddfellows, who was sitting on the platform, fell over and expired, when he was carried out of the hall. He was a retired Civil Servant, having held the position of Inspector of Railway Shops. Memorial services were held n all the country townships.
