Hokitika, June 18. A Dumber of representative men and friends are leaving to-day for Wellington to attend the funeral. A large number of wreaths are being pent from local bodies, also from the women of the districts, and one from the Old Identities' Association, with the inscription "From the Comrades of Westland, 1866-1906." The County Chairman, in acknowledging messages from the ActingPremier that Wellington had been decided upon as the most fitting , place for tbe interment, replied: "I . thanK you for information conveyed in reference to funeral arrangements. , Westland will, of course, respect toe ( decision arrived at, and the loyal and staunch supporters of a life time < career are proud, indeed, that the , greatest honors the Colony can offer ( are to be bestowed upon the memory , of our revered and honored member. ( His life's sacrifice for the Colony , [ and the Empire demands everything , possible at our hands, and Westland j but wishes that the greatest and ] best should be the portion of £ Richard John Soddon's memory."
