Hundreds upon hundreds of tributes to the late Premi&T are still coming to the family. i*he Acting Premier has been busy answering piles of telegrams received since Monday. Only a few can be quoted. > To his Majesty the King the follow- : iner message was despatched : — j "Tho Government and. people of New Zealand desire to thank his Majesty for his generous message of sympathy on the death of Mr Seddon. The deceased statesman had won the affection and confidonce of ; New Zealanders to a degree unprece- j dented in our history, and it is most gratifying to his Majety's subjects in New Zealand to know that our gracious Sovereign appreciates the loyal and distinguished services which Mr SedJon has rendered towards uniting and strengthening the bonds of kinship between the Mother Country and the outlying dominions of me Empire." To H.E.H. the Prince of Wales:— "The Acting Premier respectfully requests his Excellency to convey to his Royal Highness the appreciation of tbe Government and people of New Zealand of his Royal Higimess's gracious message of sympathy. "' To the Secretary of State for the Colonies:— "On behalf of Mrs Seddon and tho people of New Zea- { land, the Government, desire to return their sincere thanks to his Majesty's Government for their message of sympathy. Our late Prime Minister had won a reputation beyond the narrow bounds of our • own colony, and in thought and in j deed he was ever wishful to promote • the great ideal of Imperial unity.
