MELBOURNE V. MANAWATU.
Palmerston North, February 18. The cricket match between Melbourne and Mnaawatu (eighteen batting, fielding twelve each side) commenced yesterday, the weather being fine, and the pitch in good order. " Manawatu went to the wicKets first and put up a score of 108 runs, the highesc scorers being Hewitt 20, Goldspring 17, StepheDson 14. The' Melbourne players scored 118. Irvine 31, Aitken 26, and Ransford were the highest scorers. The match will be continued on Monday.
