The House met at 2.30 p.m. Mr Taylor presented several petitions in favor of a public enquiry into the voucher. Mr Graham presented a petition in'Javor of State Control of the Liquor traffic. Mr Budo presented a petition , asking fpr compensation for the widows of the two men who were killed in the Ohaney's railway accident. H The House went into Committee to further consider the Estimates. ! . Item, State forests, £18,793.— A debate ensued on forestry, which 1 lasted unil the 5.30 adjournment. The points of the debate were: too much valuable timber is being destroyed; that not sufficient money is beng spent on forestry; that , settlers should be advised as to the . best timber to plant. The Public Works Statement, with Estimates, was laid on the table of the House. 1 The House resumed at 7.30 p.m. ' The Etimates were continued. The item for State forest passed unaltered. Item Printing Department, £40,446.— Mr Massey moved a reduction, as a protest against the nonappearance of the paper giving details of the Colony's expenditure. Lost by 35 votes to 18, and the item passed unaltered. Mental Hospitals and Charitable, Department, £87,412.— 1n reply to questions the Hon. Hall-Jones
