NELSON JOCKEY CLUB.
A special meeting of the Nelson Jockey Club was held at the.Trafalgar Hotel last evening. Major Franklyn presided, and some fifteen members were present, apologies being received from othere, The Chairman explained that the meeting was called for the purpose of confirming the appointment of President, (Major Franklyn); VicePresident (Mr Ernest ; and member of the Committee (Mr Joseph Wadsworth), these appointments being made *by the General Committee. The appointments of the President and Vice-President being confirmed, Major Franklyn expressed his sense of the compliment paid him, and his pleasure at being able to feel that there was no feeling against; his taking the position. He assured the members that he would endeavor to advance the interests of the club. Mr E. Trask also briefly expessed his thanks. With regard to Mr Wadsworth's appoitment, it was stated that the Cammittee looked up the records, and found that Mr Wadsworth was at the top of the unelected candidates for the Committee at the last annual meetingi and the Committee there-
