UNHAPPY RUSSIA.
I BOMB THROWING. REVOLT IN~CAUCASUS. Received September 12, 11.9 p.m. St. Petersburg, September 12. A steamer with her name painted out has been stranded or exploded on an island near Jakobstad. The crew perished. Her cargo consisted of] magazine rifles and revolvers, and a portion has been recovered. A bomb «as thrown under the carriage of Governor Tavastchus, of i Finland, but failed to explode. ; The situation at Baku is hourly becoming worse. A corps of artillery is^bombarding a barricade erected by Tartars and others. Eight quarters of the city have been reduced to>uins. The rioters stubbornly continue their attacks, and Tartars and Kurds are plundering the industrial section. Soldiers volleyed into a crowd of Russian workmen, killing 17.
