DOVEDALE.

At tbe meeeting of tbe Dovedale Debating S ciefcy fifty njombers were present. Much interest and. considerable amusement was afforded by tho programme, which consisted of a mock Parliamentary elaction. Five candidates wore id the field, Messrs A. Douglas and J. Thorn in the interests of the present Government, Messrs J. Lammas and W. Hawkes as Oppositionists, and Mr F. Turner as a Prohibitionist. Mr A. Douglas was elected by p. majority of six votes. The victorious candidate, in returning thanks, paid doubtless the Indies had voted for him, seeng that he favored a tax being put on allj bachelors.
