PRACTICAL SYMPATHY OF NELSON CITIZENS.

Mrs W. L. Buchanan writes: — i Knowing and respecting many of the ■ suffered by the recent fire in Col- \ lingwood, might I, through your [ valuable paper, ask help and sympathy for those who had to stand and i see their pretty homes perish, and , with them, in many instances, their . means of livelihood. "He gives \ twice who gives quickly," and any- - thing in the shape of household \ necessities, articles of clothing, etc. , sent to me, care of Mrs Coster, > Cambria street, will at once be forwarded to Collingwood, and given to those most in need of immediate help. Mr J. C. Burford, owner of the ss. Lady Barkly has, 3ays Mrs Buchanan, consented to take, free of charge to Collingwood, any bulky articles properly addressed, which are for the immediate use of the sufferers by fire, and such packages are to be left at Mr Burford's wharf, properly addressed. As an expression of practical sympathy with the sufferers from the disastrous conflagration at Collingwood, Mr Joseph Taylor has written offering to any families who may be in need of a temporary dwelling the free use of two of bis houses at Baiaham, which happen just now to be empty. One of these has only just been built, and the other has recently been renovated, the former being named "Audley House," and the latter "Park House Farm." Both houses are situated near the main Collingwood road on his farms, near Mackay's Pass, only about eight miles up country, and the privilege will doubtless be opportune to some of those who have lost their homes.
