REV. F. W. GHATTERTOH-
Writing to a friend in Nelson from Tam worth, England, the Rev. F. W. Chattertofij states that Mia. Chatter,-, tori acid hJ.msself were enjoMng the,^ trip to the Old Country. The summer they were experiencing was like a New Zealand one, and was the best England had had for some years. Up to the end of September Mr Chatterton had travelled about two thousand miles on his bicycle, visiting many districts and places of note. He had taken a number of services, and had delivered some lectures on the Melanesian Missions and New Zealand. On October sth he delivered a lecture at Tamworth on this Colony,* when Mrs Howie sang some Maori and English SongSj and Mr Chatterton exhibited some beautifu; lanterri slides of scenery obtained from The' New Zealand Government. Mrs Howie is spoken of as possessing a contralto voice of rare beauty and power, and of having won golden opinions wherever she has been. Mr and Mrs Chatterton leave England at the end of December by the s.s. Rimutaka for New Zealand. They hope to be in Nelson some time in February, and hope to spend a few days here prior to Mr Chattertofl. resuming his duties as Principal of Te Rau Theological College at Gisborne. They desire to be remembered to all old friends in Nelson, especially those connected with All Saints' Church, The citizens* of Nelson will be pleased to see the worthy couple, and will give them a hearty welcome on their return td the Colony*
