OBITUARY.
"Colonist," Feb. 26th, 1904, Death has removed another of our long- resident and greatly esteemed citizens. Mr Edward Atmore passed away on Wednesday, after a residence here of forty-seven years, being in his 78th year. Deceased took a keen interest to the last in local, colonial, and Imperial affairs. His upright conduct won for him the esteem of all who were brought into contact with him socially and as a business man. In his earlier days he was an enthusiastic cricketer, at Home playing to maintain the prestige of his County, which was Norfolk. On February 6th, 1864, the merchants of Wellington presented deceased with an engraved silver bat, as a memento of his being the highest scorer for the Nelsonians against, the Wellingtonians that season. Deceased was also one of the founders of Court Robin Hood, A.0.F., of this city in 1863. One of his sons, Mr Harry Atmore, is a member of the Education Board, and his Worship the Mayor is a son-in-law. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of their fellow-citizens. The funeral will take place this afternoon, and the members of Court Robin Hood are requested by the Chief Ranger, to attend. Funeral.— The funeral of the late Mr E. Atmore took place yesterday afternoon, when there was a large following of citizens. Mr Hornsby, of the Waimea street Gospel Hall, conducted the service at the grave, and gave an excellent discourse. The Foresters' service was read by Bro. J. Kitching, Chief Ranger of Court Robin Hood.
