YESTERDAY'S PROCEEDINGS.

Yesterday* morning the Governor, in the company of Colonel Pitt and the Mayor, visited the Old People's Home, where Mr Piper (Chairman of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board) .received the party. His Excellency conversed with several of the inmates. A A visit was then made to both Colleges, after which the School of Music and the Suter Art Gallery were inspected. The Governor was much pleased with what he saw at the Colleges, where Mr Fell represented the Board of Governors, and a holiday was granted at his request at each institution. At the Girls' College a nice compliment was paid by six girls, three at each side opening the gates as the carriage drove up, and then accompanying the carriage as escort to the door of the College. At the Boys' College his Excellency asked that the two' head boys should accompany him as his guests on his visit to Motueka. These two students, Watts and Everett, are destined for the Army, and Lord Ranfurly showed much interest in them on the visit to Motueka. The School of Music his Excellency described as one *of the best halls he had seen in the Colony, and considered the institution very creditable to the place. At eleven o'clock the Vice-Regal party left Nelson, and proceeded to pay a visit to Motueka.
