SWIMMING CARNIVAL.

Keceived March 13, 9.59 a.m. Sydney, March 13. The Australian Simming Championship Carnival commenced c at the Bushcutters Bay baths yesterday. The half-mile championship was a splendid contest between^Keran a Sobcaon boy, and Cavill. Keran took the lead soon after the start, and although Cavill made a great effort to overtake him, the youngster steadily forged ahead, and won by ten yards in llmins. 29 4-sth sees, which beats Cavill's world's record by 20 3-sth sees. Wickham and Nicoll tied in the diving championship. Ceaghe, of New Zealand, started in the 100 yards race, but was unplaced.
