Greater Christchurch.

Christchurch, January 22. Considerable interest was taken in the polling to-day on the subject of greater Christchurch, and the proposal for the amalgamation of the city and adjoining boroughs was • carried by an overwhelming majorities. The figures were: — Christchurch, for amalgamation 1208, ► against 793; St. Albans, for 426, against 238 ; Linwood, for 599, against 145. The Sydenham poll will be > taken on February 4th.
