The Somaliland Expedition.
French Rifles, etc., for the Mullah London, January 21. Lieutenant-Colonel fCobbe, V.0., with 450 men of the African Kifles and 50 Sikhs, is starting from Obbia I for a fortnight's reconnaisance toi wards Galkayru wells, the Mullah f 9 i headquarters. Colonel Cobbe was i awarded the Vicoria Cross for cori- [ spicuous bravery at Errego, when the Mullah surprised the British column. A patrol dhow in charge of Lieuenant Bevan, and manned by six bluejackets and a three-pounder, has made a valuable capture off the Somali coast. Those on board feigned i distress, sent a Somali native to the masthead with a signal, and lured jfche Arab dhow within- . rangq. A ',' thrilling fight ensued, and the. Arab dhow was captured. It was found in possession of French papers from Jibutil, and also 80 French .rifles, 10,000 rounds of ammunitibti, and 7000 revolver cartridges, intended to be sent to ?the Mullah by a circuitous route. These were confiscated, and. the dhow was sunk.; :
