Suicide of a Constable.
Palmebston North, August 8 j Constable Kidd, of Fo.xton, but on relieving duty at Palmerston, shot himself with a revolver at the Police Station last night. He had been on night duty till 2.30, when he complained of feeling ill, and went into the station. An hour later he was found dead by the constable on duty. No reason is at present assigned fpr the fact. A preliminary enquiry will be held this afternoon. Later; At the inquest held to-day on Constable Kidd, who was found dead in the Police Station at an early hour this morning, the jury returned a verdict that deceased shot himself while in a state of temporary insanitary induced by insomnia.
