London, May 20. | The weather was cold and showery for the continuation of the cricket match, and the ground was saturated. The conditions presented the resumption of play till 2.30, when the weather brightened, and there was a good attendance. Darling, continuing the Australian innings, added 4to his overnight Bcore, when vVhitehead caught him at long on— s for 54. The pitch was very treacherous. Noble was smartly taken in the slips— 6 for 63. Armstrong and Ilopkins partnered, bafc the partnership was brief, the Victorian being easily caught at short leg by Odell-7f0r76. Carter added only a single when Coe, third man, caught him after a run for it, a single being added to the total for the wicket, Jones was next, bat King dismissed Hopkins without an addition to the total. Saunders was the laat man. Jones, by vigorous hitting, piled up forty runs before Odell caught him at mid on. He had a lucky innings being twice missed consecutively. Saundera made nine. The innings lasted one hundred and thirty minutes. Leiscester made a much better stand in their second innings. When stumps were drawn they had lost six wickets for 117. Wood and Whitehead opened, and during the partnership, lasting 35 minutes, by good free cricket, rattled up 54, one over of Saunders yielding 16. One for 54. Jones relieved Saunders at 64 and the new bowler's first over proved fatal to Wood. Two for 64. Saunders dismissed King with an easy catch at mid-on. Three for 74. Seventy minutes' play sufficed to pull up the arrears on the Australians' first innings. Noble who was getting a lot of work on the ball bowled Crawford with a good break. Jones accounted for de Traiford with a T clever left-handed catch off his own bowling, and Gregory at cover point snapped up Coe making a good catch off Noble. The records of the fall of the fourth and fifth wickets are not stated. The scores are:— Whitehead, l.b.w.
