BRIGHTWATER.
The Committee election meeting was well attended, and considerable interest was taken therein. A long discussion by householders took place with regard to falling attendances at both schools . There is every prospect of insufficient pupils to warrant assistants. Nothing came of the discusson. The poll resulted as follows :— Messrs F. Neal 24, I. Wadsworth 21, E. S. Fairey 20, I. H. Bettany 16, John Doidge 15, W. Harman 14, W. Cole 14. Mi Fairey was appointed chairman, and Mr Harman hon. secretary and treasurer. The -report of the outgoing Committee referred to the possible loss to the district of Miss Jordan's services, and expressed the hope that the new Committee would endeavor to retain her services. Mention was made to the. satisfactory reports on both schools. • It was pointed out that the annual allowance from the Board was reduced from £85 to £20 a year, and it was thought impossible to pay for sweeping, or to grant any school requisites free.
