Smit, Hertzog, Lotter, and other Orango Colony Boer leaders realised good prices. The proceeds of the sale will be devoted to the maintenance of their families in the concentration camps. A caucus of Afrikander Bond members, representing twelve districts of Cape Colony, has censured the leaders of the Bond for knowingly pursuing a policy of precipitating war, the rank and file of the party never having intended to encourage war, and being kept in ignorance of such a policy. Lewis Handley, a farmer in Natal, has arrived in London to give evidence that Mr Arthur Lynch, who has been elected M.P. for Gal way, commanded a body of Boers, who confiscated his cattle and destroyed a hundred acr«s of crops, thus committing an. act of treason. Received April 22, 11.15 p.m. April 22. Lord Kitchener's weekly report states that eighteen Boers were killed, nineteen wounded, three hundred and twenty-five taken prisoners, and ten surrendered. The enemy is much scattered, and reduced in the Cape. Colonel Boohefort, towards the total mentioned in th 6 report, captured twentythree in the Bloemhofi district. A detaohed portion of Colenbrander's force engaged a superior body of the enemy in difficult country, near Haenertsburg, but held their ground, Six British were killed and seventeen wounded. Colonel Colenbrander came in touch with a detached portion again.
