The flood caused by tbe cloud-burst, and which broke the dam at Pocahontas, Virginia, did appalling damage in the Erkhort Valley. The water disinterred 7"numerous bodies in the Roff cemetery, causing an exaggerated 'idea of the number of fatalities. The miners at Algonia were standing i__ to their waists in water, and rescued 23 women and children who were; floating past. ... Several negro plunderers were shot. .
