RECEPTION AT DUNEDIN.
Dunedin, June 27,
Before the Royal party left Femhill Club, members of the Imperial troops and Billeting Committee presented three copies of a souvenir issued in connection with the scheme. One copy being for the KiDg.
Mrs Denniston (wife of Mayor), presented for the women of Dunedin a set of greenstone handle teaspoons whioh were gold mounted. The Duchess said the spoons would be in constant use in her own house.
Miss Alice Karetea made a presentation on behalf of the Otago Maori.,
Mr A. Hamilton, on behalf of the New Zealand Institute, presented the Duchess with a copy of " Maori Art." Dr. Hocken, the President, presented a copy of his " Early History of Otago," and " Abel Tasman and his Journal."
The Royal couple made a number of presents, including one to Sir Joseph G. Ward : autograph photographs to the Mayor and Mr Chisholm, the Chairman of tbe Reception Committee ; and to Mr C. E. Bird, the steward of the Fernhill Club. .The Club "was specially thanked, and in addition to autograph photographs, received a silver ash tray, embossed with the Royal arms.
As the train was moving away, the Duke, in a loud voice, thanked the Mayor for the cordial reception they bad received from the citizens.
The. Dunedin illuminations were in full swing again to-night, and crowds moved about admiring everything.
The country visitors seem -to never tire of viewing the beautiful scene.
