Anniversary Regatta.
Wellington. January 22,
The Anniversary regatta of Port Nicholson Yacht Club was held to-day, in favorable weather. There was a north-west wind which varied slightly in power, but was never more than moderately strong. Much interest was taken in the meeting of Auckland yacht Rainbow and the Wellington yacht Waitangi, they being the only two that competed in the race for firstclass yachts. The Eainbow sailed tbe course of twenty-seven knots in 16min 21 sec less than the Waitangi, including her time allowance of 9min 50secs. The Rainbow won by 26min llsecs. The first race for second-class yachts was won by tbe Atlanta, and the second race by the Mahina. In the first race for half -rate yachts theßuru was the winner, and Marono won the second race. The large entry of second-class yachts was a feature of the regatta.
