PARLIAMENTARY "NOTES".

[By Telegbafh.] (Fbo« oub own Cobbeepondent,) Wellington, June 22. Parliament was formally opened this afternoon by bis Excellency the Governor, in the presence of a good copoourse of people, but only a small proportion of those armed with tickets were able to gain admission to the Legislative Council Chamber. I noticed the Hons Pitt, Barniooat, and Bievei In their places. In the Lower flouse many notices of notion were given, and then the Premier

moved a resolution of sympathy with th c relatives of the late Messrs Crowther, Field, and Joyce, and it was fucthar resolved that i thß House adjourn till Tusday night out of , respeot to the memories of the deceased. S Members then gathered in the Whips' i Boom and congratulated Mr Seddon on his ! birthday. The Premier said that he felt | fit and able to lead his " noble army," an j announcement that was received with ] I every mark of satisfaction, and certainly, the Premier is looking much better to-day. The election of Chairman of Committees has not yet been proceeded with. Your member is very busy, and I gather in connection with harbor matters that a Nelson deputation, including Messrs Graham, B. McKenzie and Colvin, M'sH.B, Trask, and Bannehr had a long interview with the Minister of Public Works to-day, but as far as I can gather some few days must elapse before any definite steps can be be taken. In the House, Mr Witheford, the newlyelected Auckland member, gave notice that he would move the Address in Reply, and Colonel Pitt in the Legislative Council has notified that he will do likewise in that Chamber.
