He let* Jingkdd in 1810, and after residing in Tasmania, South AAistfaiia, and New South Wales for a time, ha came td this Colony, reaching Otago in April 1837. In 1857 he signed the Temperance pledge, arid became a very active member of the cause, starting* the first Band of Hope in this district, which be carried on for a long term of years. He was for years the oldest member of the Trust Board of the Wesleyan Church, also Superintendent of the Sunday School connected with that Church. The old gentlemen has lived to see his great grandchildren, having three of his grandchildren married. With the exception of failing eyesight and hearing, » Old Ben " (as he is familiarly caUed) is very hearty. We offer him and his worthy partner our hearty congratulations, and we are sure their fellow citizens will join therein. Mr Crisp, we believe, may claim to have been a colonist longer than any other person in this part of the British Empire, and we are sure there is none more loyal to his Queen and Country.
