WAIMEA RIFLES.
1 The annual meeting of this corps was held last night after parade, about 60 being present. The balance sheet showed a credit of £7, with a capitation now due of £157 105— £164 10s. But out af this amount the Drill Shed has to be built, and considerable satisfaction was expressed at the progress made in obtaining a shed. The roll was revised, some names struck oil, and eight new members elected, all of whom must now pass medioal examination. The following Committees were elected :— > Finance ; Captain Bryant, Sergt Hill, Oorpl Forster. Ball: Surgeon-Major Pearless, Lieuts Bicketts and Arnold. Shooting: The officers, Sergt Hill, Corpl Wilkins, Privates Ching, W. 0. Andrews, Sllcook, and Newberry. Auditors : Sergt Newth and Corpl Ellis. Great dissatisfaction was expressed at the meagre opportunity offered to the markmen to compete for medals. Eight members are now serving with the various contingents. It was resolved to have a festive opening of the Bhed after Easter. As usual the enthusiastic and happy spirit is still evident, whioh makes it a pleasure to belong to this corps.
