THE COLONIST. Published Daily-Mornings Nelson, Friday, January 19, 1900.
Held Over. — Owing to pressure on our space, our leading article is held over.
Cobrespondbnce. — We have received two letters from " A Loyal Irish Subject," touching on the departure of the New Zealand contingent and the Boer war, but pressure on otiv space prevents our publishing same.

Old Age Pensions Court^. — Sittings of this Court have been fifced for Monday next, 22nd inst., and the Monday following) 29th inst, As renewals of the £rst pensions granted.^ are, now being applied for, the pourt officers have a busy time before them for sometime to come.
Cricket. — H. Graham, who comes to New Zealand with the Victorian team, has .proved Pictorials most successful run getter this summer^ .. He has been very consistent, with 11&, 42, 39, 14, 22, and 77 in consecutive innings for the Sheffield Shield.
Fruit Wanted. — Mr Thomas Pettit announces in another column that he is a cash purchaser of specified fruits in an^ quantity. FbfcHtiii Sports. — Entries for the 100 yds and 200 yds amateur run will be received at Mr J. O. Mercer's cycle works up till 7.30 to-morrow evening.
Thb City Water Supply. — We have received a small bottle of water drawn from a service tap in. St. Johp street, and the water' in question is certainly not fit to drink without first being filtered, for the bottom of the bottle, when allowed to rest for a few seconds, is coated with sediment, : Steps should be at once taken by the Corporation to prevent such water being supplied to consumers. We understand that complaint has been made to the Corporation officials by the resident from whose tap the water was drawn, and that no notice has been taken of the complaint so far. It is possible that sediment finds its way into the terminal pipes tn aide streets, and accumulates therein, but if so provision should be made for getting rid of what may prove dangerous to health.
Business Announcement. — Mr S. Starr; of Bridge street, announces that he is the purchaser of the ,"Bon Marche " stock of general goods, atiil in another column he has an announcement regarding same.
Dr W B. Bush, Oakland, Fla., writes.— " I employ Sander & Sons Pure Volatile Eucalypti Extract ps a local application in pbr. nio inflammations ani rbeumatio paiosi internally in nephritic as well as in pa!oon ary, gastric and vesioal catarrh. It ia eometimea difficult to obtain the genuine attiole. I employed different other preparations, they had no therapeutic valne and no effeots. Ia one case the effects were similar to the oil esmphora, the objeotionabls aotion of which 13 well known."— This ia certainly a most striking evidence of tbe superiority of this cxcelleot preparation over any othet. —Insist getting Sander & Sons Euoalypti Extraot, or else yoa will supplied with worthleES oils.
